Back in 1991 when joe was just a young lad....he worked for Fairview Beef located in Bound Brook while attending somerset county votec, majoring in auto body. Everyday after school, Joe would race from school to work and work until the wee hours into the night. One day, Joe's dad told him your either going to college or your buying the meat market since your doing all the work anyway. The butcher shop was all Joe dreamed of and he knew thats what he wanted to do.....so will all his savings he approached the owner and asked that he wanted for his business.....it was right then and there a deal was struck and a few months later on the eve of his graduation from high school, Joe became the proud owner of Fairview Beef's two locations, one in Bound Brook and one in South Bound Brook. It didn't take Joe long to realize that since Bound Brook had some flooding issues and he couldn't be in two places at once, he closed the Bound Brook location and made South Bound Brook his new home, even changing the name from Fairview Beef to "Joe's Meat Market".
Joe worked and worked and worked...seven days a week, never taking a break, all day everyday, and he loved it! He loved his customers, he loved that they keep coming back. Eventually, he got so busy he asked his mom to come help him at lunch time. Joe's Mom added so much to his business. She shared all her secret recipes with Joe, homemade potato and macaroni salad, coleslaw, and everybody's favorite "stuffed hot peppers". Once word got out about the peppers, people from all over NJ were coming just to get her peppers. With mom helping the customers, Joe was able to perfect his own recipes....making the finest Italian sausage around, selling smoked homemade kielbasa and fresh ground meat and cutting to order delmonico's, fillet Mignon and porterhouse steaks.
Soon Joe realized that there was so much more he had to offer, but the current store had just reach its capacity. With the help of his wife and family, Joe set out to find a bigger and better location. It didnt take long, but right across the street from him was a building for sale. It used to be the towns old firehouse and police station back in the eary 1900's. With eveything he owned, he again crafted his vision and created a shoppe worthy of the his customers. Five times the size of his old store, Joe was now able to put in a full kitchen with grill and fryer, created a wonderful catering menu for customers parties and events, homemade gourmet dinners to go, frozen italian dinners worthy of being called "from Mom's kitchen to yours". Seating for at least 40. And just this past year, Joe finished the renovation in the front of the store to include a full service bakery dept and Gelateria. Fresh baked italian bread and homemade cannolis are just a few things that make Joe's a worth while stop.
So now you know alittle bit more about Joe's and we are so appreciative of each and everyone of our customers....your like family to us. And speaking of family...did you know that there is a little butcher in the making...Joe's son Giovanni, who is six right now. But you never know, time flies and before you know it our little butcher will be making your sandwiches and sausage meat. We cant wait to see what his vision is for you.....
